Members recently conducted a high angle technical rope rescue drill in the high rack storage of the Wegmans Complex
We simulated a situation in which a worker had fallen down a level to a catwalk below and needed to be stabilized and retrieved from above. Anchors and mechanical advantage systems had to be set up to successfully remove the victim. Two firefighters were lowered with a basket to bring the victim up.
The drill was successful, giving us the opportunity to train in a real world setting, while giving Wegmans staff the ability to observe some of our capabilities; both sides benefited greatly.
