Yesterday our crews responded to Elmgrove Road for the motor vehicle accident with a person trapped. Prior to our arrival, good samaritans were able to pull one driver out from a burning vehicle. Upon our arrival, crews extinguished the vehicle fire and then began extricating the other trapped driver from their vehicle. Crews worked for approximately 20 minutes to free the trapped driver that later died at the hospital of their injuries. Gates Volunteer Ambulance Service, Inc. along with Dr. Mia Dorsett administered patient care to the patients, Gates Towing Inc. – Service and Fleet assisted with the use of their winch to free the trapped victim, and Ridge Road Fire District also assisted with manpower at the scene. The cause of this incident is currently under investigation by Town of Gates Police.
Thank you to Rochester Fire Department, Spencerport Fire District, and Chili Fire Department for covering other calls in our district while we worked this extended incident.
