This morning, Lt Collett, FF Canham, FF May, and FF Meyer along with GATES Police Department officers and Gates Volunteer Ambulance Service medics were awarded the Joanna Award from the STEP Board of Directors for a cardiac arrest save last December. Your amazing work does not go unnoticed.
The Joanna Award is an award that recognizes the collaborative effort of first responders and the
community in an emergency event. This award was established in 2005 by a former member of
the STEP Board of Directors following an incident involving some of her family members. Each
year the STEP Board of Directors receives nominations for this award. It was decided by the
Board that this cardiac arrest save clearly met the criteria for this award.
