Our area experienced its first significant snowfall on Monday. When a fire occurs – seconds count! The additional time to clear hydrants will slow down our firefighting operations during an emergency situation.
Over the course of the next few days our Firefighters will be out in the community (weather permitting) clearing snow from the fire hydrants. There are over 1200 fire hydrants in our Fire District that will need to be cleared of snow.
While driving around this afternoon I noticed several areas where our citizens have already stepped up and cleared the snow from around the fire hydrants. Hats off to all of the folks out there that continue to support our efforts in saving lives and property in the Gates Fire District.
Thank you,
Fire Chief, James Harrington
