The Gates Fire District has donated surplused protective firefighting gear to fire departments in the Philippines. This older Personnel Protective Equipment is no longer serviceable to firefighters in the United States due to NFPA and OSHA standards.
Many of the firefighters in the Negros Oriental Filipino-Chinese Fire Brigade often fight fires in civilian clothing. This older gear will offer some level of protection to the members of the fire department. The clothing was delivered to Pastor Jeff Martin on July 9, 2015 at his home in Rochester, N.Y. Pastor Martin will have all the material packed and shipped to the fire department in the Philippines. It will take anywhere from 6 to 8 weeks for the equipment to arrive at its final destination.
If any other fire department are interested in donating used or outdated firefighting equipment or clothing please contact Pastor Jeff Martin at 585-354-0907 for additional information.
