Last night at approximately 6:11 PM, the Gates Fire District received multiple reports of a house on fire and unknown type of explosion in the area of Noel Dr.off of Lyle Rd.
Prior to the fire departments arrival, an off-duty fire fighter that lives nearby, was able to gather the residents of the two homes next to the house that exploded and get them to a place of safety.
Within minutes of the initial calls, the fire companies from Gates and Ridge Road Fire Districts were on scene and started suppressing the fires, searching for victims and evacuating nearby homes.
Additional units arrived on scene shortly following. The neighboring homes did sustained fire damage, but due to the quick efforts of all crews the homes were able to be saved.
The cause of the fires is under investigation by the Monroe County fire Bureau.
