The Gates Fire District has placed into service four new engines during the month of November. The entire project has been in development for the last 2.5 years with numerous elements of the project being considered to come to the final delivery and acceptance.
These four new apparatus will provide for a much better delivery of services to our community. In addition standardization helps off set cost of training and maintenance of the apparatus. From an operational stand point each engine is set up identical to each other which will assist in a faster deployment of tools and appliances when we arrive at the incident.
The entire project cost approximately $1.5 million dollars utilizing existing funds to offset the overall cost and then bonding the remainder of project. The monies from the sale of three of the older engines has been used to purchase newer and updated tools and appliances for these vehicles. If you see the vehicles around town feel free to stop and talk to the firefighters and have them show you around the new trucks.
