Our Members have been training with new Emergency Escape & Self-Rescue Systems, more popularly known as “bailout ropes”. These systems provide firefighters with a means of emergency self-escape from upper floors of burning buildings should normal exits become unusable or cut-off by fire spread. Mandated by New York State law, these systems were purchased using grant monies obtained through the Federal government’s Firefighter Assistance Grant Program. All members qualified to operate inside of a burning structure have been issued an escape system upon completion of this training.
