Today Gates Fire Chief Alan Bubel, Community Risk Reduction (CRR) Specialist Kalliopi Herouvis, and Gates Police Chief Robert Long attended the Rochester Police Department’s Do The Right Thing of Rochester awards ceremony.
CRR Specialist Herouvis and Chief Long nominated Alexandra, Brianna, and Catalina Perea for this award after a fire broke out in their home this past January. Due to their quick actions and knowing exactly what to do in this sort of emergency, they were able to save their family, pets, and home.
Catalina stated that she learned what to do by following the instruction she learned in school during her yearly fire safety lesson with CRR Specialist Herouvis.
We are extremely grateful that due to the fire safety education programs implemented in school, the lives of these 3 amazing young ladies were saved.
