Congratulations!
Former Commissioner and Firefighter Jeff West was recognized for his actions at a house fire on May 17th by the Town of Gates. Jeff was driving on Foxshire Lane when he noticed smoke from the back of a residence. He quickly sprung into action and stretched a garden hose to knock down a fire that had started on the back deck and siding of an occupied dwelling. Due to Jeff’s quick actions, the bulk of the fire was knocked down prior to fire department arrival and the resident was able to evacuate safely.
We would also like to congratulate Officer Nick Ventrella as he was recognized with the Excellent Police Service Award. Officer Ventrella recently served as an Acting Sergeant while one of our Sergeants was out injured. In the past month Ofc. Ventrella assisted with evacuating residents out of a house window while their house was on fire getting them to safety.
We appreciate Jeff and Officer Ventrilla’s continued service to the Gates community.
