A board of five directors, a President and Vice President governs the Gates-Chili Volunteer Fire Department (a 501C-3 organization). This is the volunteer organization of the Gates Fire District. Each board of director is elected by the membership of the Gates-Chili Fire Department. The Gates-Chili Fire Department operates from donations received from our community. The fire department does not receive tax dollars.
A board of director is elected by the fire department membership to a five-year term. The board of directors are volunteers and are not compensated. The board of directors oversee administrative activities of the fire department. The board sets the annual operating budget based on donations received. The fire department uses our donations for the smoke alarm and CO detector program, training, insurance, operating costs such as uniforms for the membership and any other activities not provided for by the Fire District.
The Board of Directors differs from the Board of Commissioners. To learn more about the Board of Commissioners, click here.
