The Gates Fire District is managed by 5 Commissioners that volunteer their time following the appropriate sections within New York State Town Laws 174, Fire District Officers along with Town Law 176, Powers & Duties of a Fire District Commissioner. These town laws must be followed by all fire districts in New York State & identifies processes & protocols inclusive of budgeting, meetings, elections & training for a fire commissioner.
A commissioner is elected by the qualified voters within the Gates fire district at the annual election, held the second Tuesday of December each year. A commissioner is elected for a five-year term commencing on the 1st day of January following the election.
Like all Fire Districts, the Gates Fire District is a separate entity from the Town & Village Governments.

Meetings are held on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month and start at 6:30 p.m. (unless otherwise noted)
All meetings will be held at 2365 Chili Ave, Rochester, NY 14624.
