Joseph Manuse has been the Career Fire Prevention Officer for the Gates Fire District for the since 2008. Joe has been a resident of the Town of Gates for over 30 years and graduated from Gates-Chili High School. He has been a volunteer firefighter with the Gates Fire District for almost 28 years, holding the ranks of Lieutenant, Captain and Assistant Chief. As the Fire Prevention Officer, Joe is responsible for providing appropriate fire prevention and fire safety lessons through community outreach programs within the Gates Chili School District, local businesses and senior centers. He is also a New York State Certified Codes Compliance Technician. Joe is an information resource for anyone with questions about fire safety and education.
He schedules and teaches fire safety training to local businesses and neighborhood groups within the Gates Fire District as well as coordinating smoke and carbon monoxide detector programs for residents. These services are offered at no cost to residents and businesses located within the Gates Fire District.
During his time here, Joe has taught many training classes. He has conducted fire extinguisher programs with many of our local businesses, assisted in fire evacuation drills, conducts two Junior Fire Academies during the summer months for middle school students, and inspected many of the public assembly occupancies that you may visit daily. In addition, Joe holds several New York State training certifications; and as a result, he rewrote our school aged lesson plans and presented them to students Pre-K through 8th grade. Joe is in the process of obtaining his fire protection degree as well.
The Gates Fire District is a proactive fire department. Our main objective is to partner with the members of our community to provide them with the best fire prevention and safety education that we can offer.
