From the Office of Chief Jim Harrington
It is my pleasure to welcome you to the web
site for the Gates Fire District. It is my intent as fire chief to
provide you with any necessary information which may help you. If
you are unable to find specifically what you are looking for on the
web site feel free to contact our offices and we will gladly assist
you.
The Fire District
serves a 19 square mile area comprised of all of the Town of Gates
and a portion of the Town of Chili. Our district is heavily
developed and surrounds the Greater Rochester International Airport
and borders both the Genesee River and the Erie Canal.
The organization is
fairly large with up to 150 Volunteer Firefighters, 21 Career
Firefighters, 18 Line Officers, Ladies Auxiliary and Fire Explorer
Post 272. At each firehouse you will notice plaques, pictures and
name boards that chart our history. Many dedicated people have
brought the organization to where it is today; a dedicated and
committed organization of professionals that provide emergency
services to the community.
Our mission statement
is to provide the community with both emergency and non-emergency
services. We strive to provide quality training, equipment and
resources, both mandated and optional, to ensure the highest level
of service possible and to keep our members as safe as possible as
they work.
