So you want to Volunteer?
We are pleased that you are considering to volunteer with our organization. The Gates-Chili Fire Department and the Gates Fire District have a proud history of assisting the Gates & Chili communities in their time of need.
The Gates-Chili Fire Department serves a 19 square mile area comprised of all of the Town of Gates and a portion of the Town of Chili. Our district is heavily developed and surrounds the Greater Rochester International Airport and borders both the Genesee River and the Erie Canal. The organization is fairly large with 70 Volunteer Firefighters, 24 Career Firefighters, 17 Line Officers, Ladies Auxiliary and Fire Explorer Post 272. Many dedicated people have brought the organization to where it is today, a dedicated, committed organization of professionals that provide emergency services to the community.
Our primary purpose is to provide the community with both emergency and non-emergency services. We strive to provide quality training, equipment and resources, both mandated and optional, to ensure the highest level of service possible and to keep our members as safe as possible as they work. Our success depends on the willingness of its members to work for the benefit of those we have chosen to serve.
The department is regulated and guided by the Gates-Chili Fire Department’s Board of Directors and the Gates Fire District’s Board of Fire Commissioners and the rules and regulations, bylaws and standard operating guidelines. This document is not all-inclusive, thus, questions may arise along the way. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at 426-2720.
