A Letter from the Fire Chief

Dear friend:

You know the feeling you get when the telephone suddenly interrupts you from your nighttime slumber - no one ever calls at 3 a.m. with good news.  Last year alone, the members of the Gates-Chili Volunteer Fire Department received hundreds of those early morning calls.  They know all too-well that good news never happens at night.

But that's what life in the fire service is all about.  Day or night, in good weather or in bad, the volunteers who comprise your Gates-Chili Fire Department are always ready to put themselves in harm's way to protect our community's families, homes, and businesses.

Duty sworn to preserve life and property, the fire fighters were there when we needed them most - always without hesitation, often without fanfare, never without deep-rooted sense of purpose.

This year-round commitment doesn't come with out cost.  For this reason alone, we ask you to respond to our once a year appeal for help.

By supporting our annual fund drive, the Gates-Chili Fire Department helps support vital firefighter training, programs, equipment and medical supplies.  You also help deliver important community education and volunteer recruitment programs.  And you help support fire safety in our neighbor hoods and schools.

If you have already given to this year's campaign, WE THANK YOU!

Your support ensures we will continue to maintain a high state of readiness and the high standards of service that have marked our more than 75-year commitment to the families and friends of the Gates-Chili area.

Sincerely,

David Richards

 Fire Chief
